Southlake, TX – Southlake Equity Group announced today the sale of American Trailer Works to BCD Acquisition, an affiliate of Bain Capital.
Southlake Equity Group built American Trailer Works through the acquisition of three trailer companies: PJ Trailers, a manufacturer of heavy-duty professional grade trailers; Carry-On Trailer, a manufacturer of light-duty, consumer focused trailers; and RC Trailers, a manufacturer or customized, enclosed trailers. American Trailer Works also built several greenfield plants under SEG ownership. At the time of its sale, American Trailer Works was the largest manufacturer of utility trailers in the world, operating 13 plants and manufacturing 250,000 units per year. Its products were sold through more than 5000 points of sale in the United States and Canada.
